Two Fort Drum soldiers killed in Afghanistan

AFGHANISTAN -- Just one day after bringing home the body of a 10th Mountain Division soldier, Fort Drum is dealing with two more deaths.

The Department of Defense has announced that the 630th Engineer Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade was attacked by enemy fire Saturday in Wardak Province, Afghanistan.

Sgt. 1st Class Bobby Estle and Private First Class Jose Oscar Belmontes were both killed.

Estle was a 38-year-old from Lebanon, Ohio. He had been in the Army since 1993 and had served multiple tours of duty in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Estle is survived by his wife, three children, mother and stepfather.

The family of 28-year-old Jose Oscar Belmontes is also mourning the California soldier's death. He was a construction engineer who had been in the Army since 2011. Belmontes is survived by his wife, mother and father.
