SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The push continues to create a fully connected bicycle network for the City of Syracuse.

City leaders have been listening to community feedback and continue to make changes to the bike routes to better meet the public's needs.

The Transportation Planner for the city went before the common council's neighborhood Preservation Committee Tuesday to discuss the recent progress. Several variables come into play, including funding, road conditions and community needs.

In the end, city officials just want to make sure they get it right.

"I want to hear that this is going in the right track, that this meets what they've been hearing from the residents, if possible. And I’d like to hear if there are areas where they feel that there is some weakness here, that give me suggestions on what other neighborhood groups, maybe we should be reaching out to," Transportation Planner Paul Mercurio said.

The Bike Route program is part of the Common Council's Comprehensive Plan to better preserve the community.
