NEW YORK STATE -- One of the businesses that was raided last week by the Drug Enforcement Agency in the nationwide crackdown on bath salts is now facing a lawsuit from New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Tebb's Head Shop, with locations in Watertown, Utica, Cicero, Oneida, Syracuse and Herkimer, is being accused of selling bath salts and other synthetic drugs. Schneiderman also says Tebb's re-labeled bath salts and called them glass cleaner and held a storewide re-naming competition for a new synthetic marijuana product to avoid the April statewide ban.

The AG has already filed 12 lawsuits against 16 head shops across the state. Two of them have resulted in the illegal synthetic drugs being removed from shelves and other penalties.

"You can't deceive the consuming public by selling drugs marked as glass cleaner, potpourri, synthetics or anything other than what they truly are, which is drugs. I think this approach is an effective one and we're hopeful that it spreads and continues to strike blows against this industry," said Deanna Nelson, New York State Assistant Attorney General, Watertown.

Attempts to reach John Tebbetts III, the owner of Tebb's, have not been successful.
