Deputies search for robbery suspect
CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- A search is underway for a man in Chemung County after the sheriff's office says he fired a weapon during a robbery. It happened at Steed's Pharmacy on Broadway Street in Southport around 1 p.m. Thursday.
Authorities say the man entered the store displayed a handgun to two clerks and then stole an undisclosed amount of narcotics. Officials say when the man went to leave, he was confronted by the store owner and fired a gun. No one was hurt, but the man did escape.
Officials say the suspect was a male between 5'9'' and 5'11'' and that he was wearing a gray pair of sweatpants with a blue stripe down the side, along with a gray hoodie and a second hoodie over that one, backwards with two holes cut out for his eyes. He was last seen leaving the area in a dark colored two door sedan with a spoiler with a newer New York State license plate.
