SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A new entertainment venue is coming to Syracuse, and it's one of just a few in the country. Destiny USA officials announced Friday morning that WonderWorks will be joining the mall.

According to the WonderWorks website, it’s an “amusement park for the mind.” WonderWorks features more than 100 hands-on exhibits, ranging from things like the inversion tunnel to an anti-gravity chamber, bed of nails, and the hurricane shack.

Syracuse will be home to WonderWorks' first location in the Northeast, and local officials say it helps them position Central New York as a family vacation destination.

"That's going to mean increased business for everyone. Increased business for our museums, increased business for this particular facility, increased visitation for our parks and for the zoo. All of our great attractions in the area are going to benefit from this," said David Holder, Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau President.

The WonderWorks house will be located on the third floor of Destiny USA and is slated to open November 2012.

WonderWorks has four other locations: Orlando, Pigeon Forge, Panama City Beach and Myrtle Beach.
