SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- There have been few critics of the Destiny USA project as vocal over the years as State Senator John DeFrancisco. Yet the Senator held his tongue when given an opportunity to again discuss the project.

The opportunity was offered after Governor Andrew Cuomo was asked about the government assistance offered in the construction of the mall expansion plan.

The Governor sidestepped any direct comment on tax breaks offered to Destiny, saying there have been both successes and failures in efforts to boost business in the state. It was then that he turned to Senator DeFrancisco who stood alongside him at the news conference at Cooper Crouse-Hinds.

“My colleagues want to make any comment? Senator?” Cuomo asked.

DeFrancisco replied, “I don't think you'll want a comment from me.”

Cuomo said, “Oh, now I'm intrigued. What do you think, should we hear from the Senator?”

DeFrancisco again declined the invitation, explaining his silence to the Governor, away from the news conference podium.
