CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- One man is dead following a two car crash in Canastota. State Police say it happened at the intersection of Route 31 and Stephens Road around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities say Ronald Comins, 63, hit Leona Clement, 80, from behind as she stopped to make a left hand turn. Comins died at the scene and Clement was taken to Oneida Health Care for minor injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine Comins' cause of death.

Route 31 was closed for about two and a half hours in the area while crews cleared the scene.
