BLACK RIVER, N.Y. -- A Jefferson County man is facing charges following a standoff in Black River. Authorities responded to a home at 106 Wendell Lane around 9:45 p.m. Sunday after a report of a suicidal man who had barricaded in the house with multiple weapons.

Sheriff's deputies spent an hour on the phone negotiating with William Spears, 38. That's when they say Spears exited the home, armed with a tactical shotgun and semi-automatic pistol.

"He was wearing a bullet proof vest, had multiple weapons with him. As he attempted to flee, we were able stop him with our armored Humvee and there were numerous non-lethal rounds fired," said Lt. Michael Peterson, Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept.

No one was injured.

Spears faces numerous charges including criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.
