By: Web Staff

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- A new Siena poll out today shows a much different outlook on the economy between Democrats and Republicans.

Twice as many Democrats as Republicans say they're in a better spot today than they were a year ago. Half of Democrats polled expect the positive outlook to continue in the coming year, compared to just a quarter of Republicans who feel the same.

Additionally, 56 percent of New Yorker say gas prices are having a somewhat to very serious impact on their finances.

The situation gets worse when it comes to groceries with 68 percent of New Yorkers saying that's causing a serious impact.

Overall, consumer confidence was up .9 percent in New York for the month of July, while nationwide it was down the same amount.
