UNITED STATES -- The 29th annual National Night Out will take place this evening. It's an initiative to focus on crime and drug prevention awareness while strengthening neighborhoods.

Last year, more than 37 million people participated in more than 15,000 towns across the United States and Canada.

Tonight, Cicero, Massena, and Fort Drum are just a few places taking part.

National Night Out is held each year on the first Tuesday in August to bring together citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, and others to build relationships and discuss ways to improve their communities.
