TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A sixth tornado has been confirmed in the storm that caused widespread damage throughout the Twin Tiers last month.
The National Weather Service says they recently learned of damage in the town of Barton. After sending a team out to survey the area, they determined an EF-1 tornado had in fact touched down there back on July 26th.
The damage was 14 miles long, from North Chemung to Barton, in Tioga County. Officials say it mostly caused tree damage, but also ripped siding and shingles off of roofs and leveled one barn.
