BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- A group of underprivileged children from New York City arrived in Broome County Thursday. The kids are part of the Fresh Air Fund organization which gives city children a chance to experience life in the country.

Twenty kids got off the bus in Johnson City to spend some time with their host families. Each host family plans activities with the children and one kid we spoke with is already excited about his family's plans.

"I'm looking forward to going to the B-Mets game, swimming and just hanging out with my family," New York City resident Dangelo James said.

"What happens is in many cases is you develop lifelong relationships between the kids and we know families who have been involved in this for over 60 years. They're lifelong friends and it's just one of those personal stories you love to hear," Fresh Air Fund volunteer Chris Carlsen said.

The Fresh Air Fund also made trips to Owego and Ithaca.
