SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police have arrested two men following a shooting in the city Thursday night. Officials say they were patrolling the area around Bellevue Avenue around 11 p.m. when they heard shots fired in the area. They then saw a Chevy Impala speed through a red light and a passenger toss a black object out of the window.
At the same time, a call came in for a shooting with injuries complaint on the 400 block of Bellevue. That's where they found old Purvis Mickle, 33, with a gunshot wound to the buttocks. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
Police caught up with the vehicle and secured the .45 caliber hand gun that was tossed out the window.
The driver, Javon Flagg, 18, is facing multiple traffic violations, while his passenger Rashaun Yancey, 20, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon and assault. Another passenger in the car was not charged.
