SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Dozens of agencies from three Central New York counties responded to two emergency situations on Saturday morning, but nobody was in any actual danger. It was all a training exercise to test how the area's police, fire, health, and dispatch centers could respond in the event of large scale incidents.

About 49 agencies from Onondaga, Madison, and Oswego counties took part. The emergency responders were divided between Kennedy Square in Syracuse for a simulated building collapse, and to Hancock Airport for a simulated plane crash.

"We want to train so that if there is a high level event that may involve several different agencies, and in this case, several different counties, that we can work together, manage the event, and have the best possible outcome," said Gary Bulinski, Syracuse Police Sargeant.

The agencies involved will meet in the next week or so, to evaluate the training and discuss how they can improve their response.
