UTICA, N.Y.-- The Polish version of Happy Birthday wishes for people to live until they are 100. Utica's Polish Community Center would have been singing that song this weekend, but their hallmark celebration passed that mark.
Utica's Polish community came out to celebrate the center's 102nd annual Polish day Sunday.
The longtime celebration featured traditional food, outfits and of course polka.
The Community Center uses the event to raise awareness of Polish culture in a fun way. They say their community is open to anyone of any nationality to join in their year-round events.
Polish Community Center Vice President Ela Pawlowski said, "We do polka days, we have New Years Eve celebrations, we have our Wigilia, which is our Christmas Eve as well. So we try to do a lot of events to bring people together."
The center will be hosting more events in the coming weeks leading up to Polish month in October.
