NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- A man charged with gunning down a Le Moyne College Graduate in New York City earlier this summer has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Officials say Khalid Rahman, 20, opened fire and hit a parked car while approaching a group of people in Harlem on July 5th. Matt Shaw, 21, was shot in the back as he was attempting to run away.

Shaw graduated from Le Moyne this past May and was planning to attend graduate school for economics at the University of Albany.

Matt's mother, Paula, says her and her family miss Matt, but are trying to move on from his tragic death.

"You know, we just remember Matt every day. Every day we remember him. You know, we light candles and we talk to his, because we have his in the living room, so we talk to him, we say good morning, good night, we try act like everything is normal,” said Paula Shaw Leary.

Rahman's lawyer insists that he did not have a feud with Shaw and that he was misidentified as the gunman.
