SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Local MoveOn members in Syracuse are criticizing Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney and vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan's platform this election season.

Protesters handed out pink slips to passersby Thursday as part of a national effort. They say Romney and Ryan's plans, if they are elected into office, will kill more than one million jobs in one year. Protesters say the Ryan budget would end Medicare and cut public education spending and economic investment.

"Neither one of them really represent the true interests and needs of the average American voter. Romney is so far divorced from everybody, he refuses to disclose his income tax statements for the last 10 years or more and it's pretty obvious he's hiding something," MoveOn member Richard Zalewksi said.

The local MoveOn group is also protesting against Congresswoman Ann Marie Buerkle, saying she represents only the wealthy, like Romney and Ryan.

"I think you have to look at the facts. We have an administration that's been in for three-and-a-half years, spent a trillion dollars on a stimulus and we still have unemployment above eight percent. It's been that way for over 40 months," Representative Ann Marie Buerkle said.

Buerkle is running against democratic candidate Dan Maffei and Green Party candidate Ursula Rozum.
