UTICA, N.Y. -- The Sisters of St. Joseph are a group known for their work with the poor, but Thursday, they made a name for themselves from Binghamton to Utica as "Nuns on a Bus."

The sisters joined with the group Citizen Action and traveled between the two cities to speak out against presumptive Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan's proposed budget. They say current Wisconsin Representative Ryan's budget proposes changes that could have devastating effects on the poor.

"We have concerns that there will be cuts in the food stamp program and that will deny large numbers of people adequate help with supplying food for their families and many of them are working families," said Doreen Glynn, Albany Province Justice Coordinator Sisters of St. Joseph.

The Sisters also held signs along Genesee Street questioning the effects the Ryan budget would have on programs like Medicare and Head Start.
