MANLIUS, N.Y. -- More than half a dozen fire departments battled flames at a home in Manlius Thursday night. The fire broke out around 8:15 p.m. at a two family house on Salt Springs Road.
At this point, the cause is still unknown, but officials say no one was hurt. They do say the remote location of the house made it difficult because there were no water hydrants anywhere near the site.
"It was a tanker operation, this isn't an area where there are hydrants so we had to set up tankers and have water supply brought in, but the fire departments did an excellent job," said Kevin Wisely, Commissioner of Department of Emergency Management.
The Red Cross was also on scene and will be helping the families who were displaced.
