Horseheads man arrested for weapons possession
CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- A man is in custody after police say he was brandishing a weapon out in the open.
Officers were called to the intersection of John Street and Grand Central Avenue around 1 a.m. Saturday for reports of a man with an assault-type weapon. According to investigators, the man ran off when officers arrived, but eventually surrendered when he was surrounded by officers from several agencies.
Police say the weapon was loaded, but no shots were fired and no bystanders or officers were hurt.
The suspect, Anthony Falkoski, has been charged with second degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned and sent to the Chemung County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
