Officials investigating three vehicle crash in Smithfield

MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Authorities are investigating a three vehicle crash in Madison County. It happened Sunday on Pleasant Valley Road in the Town of Smithfield around one 1 a.m.

Sheriff's deputies say a pickup truck stopped on the side of the road after having mechanical problems and another vehicle stopped to help.

A third vehicle, driven by Christopher Graham, 35, struck the other two vehicles and three people standing outside of them.

One man was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he is listed in serious condition. Another man and a woman were taken to the same hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Two other people, including Graham, were not injured.

Sheriff's deputies say alcohol was a factor in the crash and Graham is facing charges.

The crash is still under investigation.
