Crews battle Utica apartment fire

By: Web Staff

UTICA, N.Y. -- Crews battle an apartment fire in Oneida County Sunday night.

When they arrived at the Algonquin Apartments at 1434 Genesee Street in Utica around 10:30 p.m., heavy smoke was coming from the rear of the building.

They say the fire started on the first floor of the apartment, but was quickly brought under control.

Crews reported that there were minor injuries, mainly smoke inhalation. Most residents will be allowed back into the building tonight.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
