CENTRAL NEW YORK -- The state health department said there have been an increased number of Lyme Disease cases in Central New York.

The disease is a bacterial infection caused by the bite of an infected deer tick. The early symptoms of Lyme Disease may be mild and easily missed but they often show up as a raised rash with white in the middle and red rings around it like a bullseye.
