MOHAWK, N.Y.-- After two community meetings discussing public concerns on the pending three school district merger in Herkimer County, proponents say they're ready for the September vote.

A community advisory committee addressed the Mohawk Central school board Monday night.
They say all signs from the public point toward the Mohawk, Ilion and Herkimer school districts uniting by next summer.

The Mohawk School Board moved the issue forward by voting on the text for the September 12th straw vote.

After September, the committee says they are looking forward to potentially shaping new curriculum and a new school board.

"I think people are excited. I think people are looking forward to seeing how it goes," community advisory committee member Molly Bonnell said. "And at this point we're only a few weeks away. Again, being as the kids are everybody's lives, I think they want to know where we stand for next year because this would go into effect a year from now."

There will be another public hearing on the potential merger Wednesday night at Herkimer County Community College.
