WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- Dozens of people are concerned about the cleanup of an old factory on Watertown's north side. The state DEC Department of Health talked to people worried about the old New York Air Brake site.

For years, a cleanup and remediation process has been going on in the area. Wednesday night, investigators showed people some of the data that has been collected in the area.

Some neighbors have complained about illnesses and health issues. Experts were trying to end fears about toxic materials at the old factory.

"We will continue to be available and talk to people as much as necessary about what we've done there and why it was done. We'll continue to do the work that we've been doing there with the monitoring and the on-site remediation. That's what we're supposed to do and that's what we'll be doing," said Judy Drabicki, DEC Region 6 Director.

Leaders say New York Air Brake is paying for the cleanup process. The factory was once Watertown's largest employer. The company built railroad brake systems.
