NORTH COUNTRY, N.Y. -- Winter is just around the corner and that means the St. Lawrence Seaway will soon be shutting down for the season.

Starting December 30th, no ships will be able to travel through the seaway. Any ships that need to use the system after December 24th need prior written permission to pass through the locks.

The seaway is closing through mid-March for lock and system repair work.
