SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- First graders at Blessed Sacrament School in Syracuse had fun Monday taking part in an annual baking tradition.

Thirty six-year-olds helped adult volunteers crack the eggs and stir the mix on more than a 100 pumpkin pies for the Rescue Mission. They learn how to bake, get a lesson on math and measurements, all while learning the value of helping others.

"It just makes us feel fabulous that we can give back to the community in this way. It's a wonderful way for the students to learn about giving during the season of giving," said Andrea Polcare.

First graders at Blessed Sacarment have been baking pies for the Rescue Mission for 15 years.
