CLINTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- An emergency medical responder was found dead after his ambulance crashed in Clinton County. It happened along State Route 190 in Altona just after midnight Tuesday.

Troopers say Eric Monty, 45, of Mooers, was driving an ambulance from the Mooers/Champlain EMS Service. Monty drove into a ditch and hit a utility pole.

An autopsy revealed that he died just before the crash because of a heart condition.

Two other EMTs and a patient in the ambulance were also hospitalized with serious injuries.
