Utica man accused of Bosnian war crimes

UTICA, N.Y. -- A Utica man is awaiting extradition for war crimes he allegedly committed 17 years ago in Bosnia.

U.S. immigrations say Sulejman Mujagic, 50, was arrested Wednesday. He's charged with the unlawful killing of an enemy and the unlawful wounding and torturing of a prisoner during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mujagic allegedly murdered a captured soldier and tortured another during a battle in March of 1995 while commanding a platoon for Western Bosnia. His extradition is pending.

Mujagic is a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. He moved to Utica in 1997.
