Man sentenced for enticing minors

FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A former Fort Drum assistant chaplain who used Facebook to try to arrange a sexual encounter with two young boys will serve more than a decade in prison.

Jonathan McGeoch, 28, was sentenced Wednesday to 12-and-a-half years in prison with 20 years of post release supervision. He pleaded guilty last summer to a charge of enticing minors to engage in unlawful sexual conduct

Officials say McGeoch originally started talking with a 15-year-old boy, whose mother alerted police. He was arrested when he arrived at a gas station believing he was picking up the 15-year-old and a 13-year-old friend for a camping trip

In addition to his prison sentence, McGeoch will also serve 20 years of post release supervision.
