SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A power outage at Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse has delayed the announcement of a new baby animal.

The zoo was going to announce the birth of the new animal until power was lost Thursday morning.

Zoo officials say a power line was accidentally cut during construction work. National Grid is repairing the line and expects to be done by Friday.

In the meantime, the zoo was closed to visitors Thursday.

Zoo officials are not going to release details on the animal birth until power is restored.
