MALONE, N.Y. -- A string of recent crimes has left Malone police looking for answers.

In the past week, there have been eight separate reports of Christmas decorations being stolen from people's property.

The items stolen ranged from strings of lights to a seven foot pre-lit Christmas tree. The items totaled about $600.

Police say they are not sure what the thief is going to do with the decorations, as most stolen items are taken to resell. They have reached out to the public for help.

"We got a tip yesterday and we interviewed the suspect this morning and it didn't pan out, but we're still looking for help from the public," said Chief Chris Premo of the Malone Police.

If you have any information, please call the Malone police at (518) 483-2424.
