SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Musicians with the former Syracuse Symphony Orchestra are back to doing what they love. The new orchestra, called Symphoria, was introduced to the public at a Holiday Symphonic Spectacular concert Friday evening.

The Syracuse Symphony went bankrupt in 2011, but community leaders and musicians believe Symphoria will make a lasting impact through their music and as a business. Most of the same musicians will still be playing, but their role has been modified.

"The musicians have become members of the corporation and in such, have taken on some of the financial responsibility for operating the business. So just as a business owner would pay themselves after the company pays its other bills, the musicians are compensating themselves in that same way," said Jon Garland, musician.

Friday night's concert was a sold out show.

In prior years, this annual performance was known as the Holiday Pops Concert.
