Federal border agent found guilty of falsifying records, acquitted on other charges

By: Web Staff

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- A federal border agent in St. Lawrence County is found guilty of falsifying records while at work, but not guilty on two other charges.

Todd Tyo, 48, made false entries in the cash register at the US Customs and Border Patrol in Alexandria Bay between March and August of last year.

Prosecutors had claimed he stole money in the course of that, but Tyo was acquitted on the charge of theft of government funds.

He was also found not guilty of concealing evidence. The defense attorney says the records falsification conviction amounts to Tyo’s being found guilty of mis-entering $22.50 in truck fees.
