TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Funeral services were held Friday for one of the Newtown shooting victims who had close connections to the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes.
Mary Sherlach was a psychologist at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Services were held at Saint Stephen Church in Trumbull, Connecticut.
Sherlach was a graduate of Vestal High School and SUNY Cortland. For decades, she spent summers with her family at a camp they owned along Owasco Lake. Sherlach was preparing to retire there.
Cortland State said in a statement that the school will find a way to honor Sherlach's memory in the coming days and weeks.
