NEW YORK -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency is expected to give an update today on the recovery efforts after Superstorm Sandy.
The news conference will take place in Long Beach, Long Island, an area hit hard by the storm.
Sandy caused flooding, damage to homes and businesses and thousands of power outages when it hit in October. The cleanup and recovery in the area will take months.
Governor Andrew Cuomo requested $32 billion from the federal government to cover immediate costs, and another $9 billion for preventive measures.
