NEW YORK CITY -- You never need an invitation to the biggest and best known New Year’s Eve party on the planet - but you do have to arrive early for a good spot. About a million revelers come from far and wide for this bucket list event.

The theme this year was ‘Let There be Peace.’ And in what has become a traditional sing-along, Train performed John Lennon's ‘Imagine.’

But let's faces it. The real stars are these folks on the street, braving the cold and keeping up the excitement and enthusiasm for hours!

And finally, there was the countdown. The Rockettes kicked it off with Mayor Bloomberg.

After the countdown, the confetti and maybe even a kiss, it's time for a favorite New Year’s Eve greeting, “Hey, I haven't see you since last year! Happy 2013!”
