ALBANY, N.Y. -- Thousands of pro gun rights activists are rallying at the state Capitol today. The rally is being held in conjunction with the group Guns Across America, a national series of rallies supporting the Second Amendment.

Many at today's rally are pushing to repeal the newly enacted SAFE Act.

Earlier this week, Republican state Senator Kathy Marchione posted an online petition for a repeal of the act. Marchione said the new law not only weakens the Second Amendment rights of New Yorkers, but unfairly affects law-abiding gun owners. She also said the law doesn't do enough to address problems like mental health.
