WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Hillary Clinton has officially relinquished her position as Secretary of State. Clinton said goodbye to staffers and colleagues in Washington, D.C.
The former first lady, New York Senator, and former presidential candidate says she's looking forward to resting. During her four years in office, Clinton managed to log nearly a million miles travelling the world. She says her only regret in her time as Secretary of State, is the deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya.
"But I'm proud of the work we've done, to elevate diplomacy and development, to serve the nation we all love, to understand the challenges, the threats and the opportunities that United States faces," she said.
Clinton will be handing over her office to former Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, whose nomination was confirmed earlier this week.
