Sunny skies, a comfortable chill in the air and a fresh layer of snow are any skiers dream. That was the reality for people hitting the slopes this weekend in the North Country. YNN's Carmella Mataloni stopped by one ski lodge enjoying a boost in business.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- After thirty years off the slopes, Martha Plumpton of Watertown says it’s like riding a bicycle. The motions just come back to you.

"It makes you feel wonderful. It's such a rush," said Plumpton.

And that was the case for hundreds of other people Sunday afternoon at the Dry Hill Ski Area in Watertown. Friday's snow storm dropped more than a foot of snow on the hill and owners say it couldn't have come at a better time.

"We have a ton of base with fresh powder on top. Sunshine today. Everyday should be like this," said Dry Hill Ski Area owner Tim McAtee.

People at Dry Hill say that there is nothing like hitting the slopes after a fresh snow fall. They say that even though the man made stuff is just as good, there is nothing like that fresh powder.

"When it's powder, it’s fun to take jumps because it doesn't hurt as much when you fall," said New Hartford resident Willy Rahn.

"Nice powder is what you want. Nice fresh powder," said Watertown resident Eric Plumpton.

Owners at Dry Hill are hoping the cold weather and snow will keep the slopes open well into March so everyone has the opportunity to catch some air.
