POTSDAM, N.Y. -- There was a feeling of pride in the air as members of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council met Thursday in Potsdam.

As council co-chair Tony Collins puts it, the North Country currently has a two and "oh" record in the statewide competition.

Although the amount of money up for grabs in 2013 won't be available until the legislature passes the budget, the council is already looking for projects that are in need of funding.

There was a time for comment where members of the public could suggest worthy project. Members of the Adirondack Recreational Trail Advocates spoke on the need for more trails in the region.

"ARTA would like this organization to take a second look at their proposal to refurbish all the rail corridors in the Adirondacks," said Tony Goodwin, Adirondack Recreational Trail Advocates.

Collins responded to the comments calling the issue "complicated," and advised members of the council to research the issue before their next meeting.
