Fort Drum chefs prepare for culinary challenge

FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Some of the finest chefs on Fort Drum are hoping to win the largest culinary arts competition in North America.
This March, Fort Lee in Virginia hosts the 38th annual military culinary arts competition, often referred to as the ‘food super bowl.’
Teams have four hours to prepare a three course meal for sixty service members and two civilian chefs. There are also a number of other categories and events, like cake decorating, pastries, and center pieces.
Fort Drum's 15-member team held a run through Friday, making many of the items they plan to prepare next month.
"Fort Drum hasn't won the competition since 1999. This group here has been working really hard long hours to show what Fort Drum is made of," said SFC Michael Bogle, Culinary Team Captain.
Friday's food didn't go to waste. The team hosted Fort Drum Commanding General Stephen Townsend and other guests for lunch.
