CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Power has been restored to eight of nine buildings on the SUNY Cortland campus that lost power after Monday’s electrical explosion.
According to SUNY Cortland's website, all classes and operations will proceed as normal today.
The small explosion happened Monday afternoon in the basement of Clark Hall, a student dorm. It lifted a manhole and some brickwork, but the damage was confined to an electrical room. No one was hurt.
The building was evacuated, but the explosion knocked out power to six residence halls, two academic buildings and a dining hall. Students who live in Clark Hall spent the night in a hotel.
Clark Hall remains without power this morning while contractors examine the explosion site.
