ELMIRA, N.Y. -- After losing the pavilion in Grove Park two years ago to a fire, the City of Elmira has decided to move forward on plans to build a new one.
The city council voted Monday night to accept a bid from Architectural Concrete Plus LLC to build the pavilion for close to $136,000.
The city had originally accepted a different bid, but that company failed to include labor costs in the total.
The mayor says the new pavilion will be up by the end of the year.
The council also accepted a $2,500 donation from the AARP for new benches in the park.
